What Does a Dolphin Feel Like
When bringing people to swim with the dolphins, the biggest thing people talk about is what a dolphin feel like. Many say the dolphin skin feels like rubber, some say it feels like a hard boiled egg, and some say it feels like wet leather.

I am curious what you thought the skin would feel like before you entered the water with the dolphins and what it actually felt like to you?
It would be interesting to see what you say.

its been many years but i expected a slimy feel like a fish, I was delighted when finally i felt a dolphin. I felt no slime.LOL OF course the dolphin I touched was a dolphin at Sea Life Park so maybe that made a difference. I swim amoung wild dolphins but NEVER touch them =0)

I have done swimming with the dolphins three different times and I have always thought that the dolphins feel like a wet intertube tire but warmer!!

I swam with the dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium during the summer of 2008 – and I thought the dolphins felt like rubber – it was very interesting. I loved doing that – I’d swim with them every day if I could – I adore dolphins!

I remember vividly the very first touch of a dolphin. I was at Theater By the Sea, in the Keys – and got chosen to come down from the audience to touch one and feel his skin. I was asked what it felt like: I said, ” An opened wet rain umbrella.”
I will NEVER FORGET that touch and the beauty of his eye ..knowing how he just made a dream come true!!!!!

I admire and applaud the work you are doing on behalf of whales and dolphins. However, I respectfully submit that public interest and concern for these magnificent beings will only reach critical mass by blending scientific fact with speculative fiction, as I have done in my new novel, The Tempest’s Roar. In Hollywood speak it is ‘Lord of the Rings’ meets ‘Finding Nemo’. Please visit my website http://www.rarclouston.com or read my blog http://whaleanddolphintalk.blogspot.com/

When I swam with the dolphins it was in key west. Personally, I thought their skin felt like our skin would if we were wet all the time.

Hi Leda,
Very interesting. I guess in some way there are similarities with our skin and theirs.
Where did you go in the Keys? Do you remember?
