West Palm Beach Dolphin Tour

Monday, January 17th, 2011

In our day to day grind we often feel that a vacation is the only real way to let loose and have a lot of fun. Activities like the dolphin swim are a great way to break the grind and hassle and create life long memories for you and your family.  Better yet Dolphin World makes it that much easier to swim with the dolphins with our deluxe pick up services. One of the locations that we provide excellent round trip transportation to is the West Palm Beach area.

We just got in this really fun family, that recently did a West Palm Beach  swim with dolphins  tour .  They had such a phenomenal time we decided to show their fun and exciting experience with the dolphins. Our Pick up service saved them essentially a 2hour trip from their West Palm Beach location to our Miami facility. Along the way they were fully allotted a wide assortment of snacks,  beverages and other amenities while on board the Dolphin Tour Bus.

But the best part of all is the actual dolphin experience, buckle those belts and watch closely as you see the dolphins kiss, play, hug,  shake hands and are even fed by  this over energetic bunch. Its really something to see.

Wow, well as the one guy said so eloquently, wohooo! pretty much sums it up. Overall this is a great experience, and one that really leaves long lasting memories. The dolphins always seem to leave a lasting print and impression among the hearts of those they touch, and it is this warmth and attention that so many seek, but few ever find.

Hope you guys enjoyed the video, as always would love to hear your feed back, what did you think of the video? Did you like the encounter with dolphins?  Would you do the dolphin swim instead and why?

Hope to hear from you soon,

Hearing Loss may lead to dolphins stranding themselves

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

This is a really interesting and important study that was recently done in the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg and Mote Marine Laboratory. What they found was that a high number of dolphins and whales that had beached themselves, which means had stranded themselves inland were actually deaf. They speculate that because dolphins main compass for direction is actually their hearing, through the means of echolocation, they systematically and inevitably strand themselves on beaches and islands because they ultimately cannot navigate without their hearing.

beachedwhales5_gallery__470x312

The implications of this are important. Many Marine biologists who have saved dolphins and whales from their stranded positions are now confirming that their dolphins are indeed for the most part deaf. This would indicate the reason for their being stranded in the first place.

Therefore, as a result they are reconsidering whether or not to release them back promptly, as this would only lead to their loss of direction again or possibly their deaths. This Study consequently could be the beginning of saving the lives of hundreds of dolphins and whales that exhibit some level of this phenomenon.

The Study supports this.
“Given that these species rely on echolocation for orientation and feeding, the researchers believe that hearing loss could play a role in some strandings.”
“They also believe the findings might cause veterinary experts and scientists to rethink their strategies for rehabilitation and release of stranded animals.”

This Study is ground breaking if revealed to be accurate. The validity of their work has not yet been thoroughly tested as it is in the experimental phase, but so far they do possess strong evidence for their claim.  This is important as it will undoubtedly change the way scientists and marine biologists deal with dolphins that possess hearing loss, and would require some alternate means to provide the dolphin with the basic skills to recalibrate themselves back into the wild before releasing them, which would save countless thousands of these amazing creatures.

Read here for more on this study.

I’m curious to know what you guys think, are these guys right?

do you believe that hearing loss could be a reason for dolphins being stranded?

do you believe that when these dolphins are swimming without hearing, it could potentially cause their injury or even possible death?

Or are some dolphins simply unlucky and get detached from their niche and simply get lost?

Hope to hear from you soon,

Dare Devil Granny Swims With Dolphins

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Hi Guys, you wont believe this amazing story until you see it for yourself.  Susie a 79 year old woman was recently diagnosed with terminal intestinal cancer. Doctors are unsure how long she has to live, but this lady at 79 years of age is fulfilling all her dreams, one of them being swimming with the dolphins.  With her daughter and granddaughter there to support her each and every step of the way, as she actively completes her own personal bucket list.

You must watch this video!

This Granny has decided she is literally going to go out with a bang. I personally admire this woman’s strength, courage, and perseverance. I know friends of mine in their thirties that are afraid of activities like sky diving, but here is this 79 year old woman having the time of her life . Its truly an inspiring site. Seeing her rap her hands around the dolphins fin and watching her swim with the dolphins just lifts my spirits up and makes me believe if she can do it, i certainly can as well.

So what do you guys think? if you were sick, would you do these activities?

Would you wait till you became sick to do a swim with dolphins activity?

How important is swimming with dolphins in your life?

Love to hear from you

Dolphins walking on water?

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

Ok guys, so i came across this really interesting post the other day and i just had to share it with you. Its about Dolphins that are instinctively learning how to “walk on water”   According to the article “when a dolphin beats its tail fluke repeatedly it lifts its body vertically out of the water and then along the surface, it is more commonly seen among captive dolphins trained to  perform tricks”.

dolphin_tail_walk_4sfw

Whats interesting about this is the fact that these dolphins in Australia are expanding their culture, they are literally showing their young and other dolphins how to perform the technique and the dolphins are learning it at an exponential rate.

dolphin_tail_walk_1sfw

But wait, that’s not the shocking part, get this; according to scientific research, the dolphins learn this not for any practical purpose, but for entertaining themselves. Its the equivalent of us dancing or singing, its not because we have to, its because we enjoy doing it.  This is an extraordinarily rare talent in a species other than human, and denotes vastly superior intellect, even more so than previously expected.

You simply have to read this article. It will blow your mind!

I have to ask, do you guys believe these dolphins are actually doing this for fun, entertaining themselves?  Just for recreation? If so what other parts of their culture do you think we have missed? Could they perhaps be much smarter than we ever estimated?

Let me know what you think,  Hope to hear from you soon

Labrador and Dolphin at Play

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

I couldn’t believe my eyes when i first saw this video. This is truly the epitome of a heart warming story. This beautiful Labrador retriever actually runs out and swims in the harbor to the dolphin and begins to literally play and interact with the dolphin. Mans Best Friend with Natures smartest aquatic mammal is simply something you don’t see every day.

Here is that amazing video, just don’t gasp until the end :)

Wow, I know the first time I saw this video I was really amazed, and i have seen it several times since and still am. Its just one of those alluring mysteries of life, how some animals can bridge the connection and truly interact with one another.

This video shows the love, warmth and affection that animals truly have to people and especially to each other, and its something we could learn from, in more ways than one.

I’m really curious to know what you guys think about this, do you think animals have an innate instinct towards each other? do you believe like some, that there is an encoded language of sorts between them? Feel free to post what you think.

God Bless,

Tarek

How to Swim with Dolphins

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Many people ask us how to swim with the dolphins because they are nervous or have lots of questions about the dolphin swim. Rightfully so, the dolphins are very big animals and you should know what you are getting into before purchasing the dolphin program.

Here is an article for those that need more clarification on what is going to happen during their dolphin swim. Now the biggest thing is each location we promote has different behaviors and most facilities let the dolphins dictate which behaviors they want to preform that day.

You may have a favorite behavior, like the dorsal fin ride, the peck ride, the toe push, or the free swim with the dolphins. Each can be a lot of fun. As you can see, I really love the dorsal fin ride, this where you get to feel and touch the dolphins, plus enjoy the power and rush of their strength as they pull you through the water. Here is a photo of me doing the dorsal fin ride.
