Island Dolphin Care

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

Hi folks,
The New Year has almost dawned and even now in its wake, we are still receiving ever impressive and awe inspiring stories about swimming with dolphins in Key Largo.  I came across this amazing video about a facility in the Key Largo area called Island Dolphin Care, where its primary purpose is to serve  special needs children.

The Owners of Island Dolphin Care, Peter and Deena said they specifically created this facility for those with special needs, after they saw how much their own son Joe, who was born with congenital heart disorder benefited from swimming with dolphins. Having 3 major open heart surgeries by the age of 4, he suffered a stroke and loss almost complete use of the left side of his body.  Deena his mother said all traditional forms of treatment had failed until they took him to swim with the dolphins, after that he slowly began to be more confident and very gradually gained some use of the left side of his body.

Acting upon their own life experiences with Joe; Pete and Deena opened Island dolphin care to replicate this effect to those also searching desperately for a treatment that would restore and rejuvenate their loved ones.

You simply have to watch this video, and the amazing stories that are told, they will change the way you look at dolphins forever.

Simply astounding to say the least.

Island Dolphin Care still stands today as an enigma to scientific reasoning on just how these children are making such unusually fast progress.  Although Peter and Deena  try hard to stay away from the concept of these dolphins performing miracles, it is hard to conceptualize such phenomenal progress as anything else. Island Dolphin Care has stood as the shinning beacon of hope and faith for those families desperately  wanting a life of normalcy and happiness for their children. From Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Aids and even Cancer, “the dolphins seem to love them all” and accept them for who they truly are. Such love cannot possess any material price tag, but rather a fulfillment and joy that is irrevocably and systematically reinforced through this wondrous facility, simply known as Island Dolphin Care.

Sometimes its comforting to know a simple Key Largo swim with dolphins, is the first step towards a special needs child’s recovery and more importantly their happiness.

I hope you guys enjoyed the article, and as always I’d love to hear what you think about it. Do you believe there is something special about Island Dolphin Care? Is there something more than science at work here? We would love to hear your answers.

Dolphin’s Healing Powers

Monday, October 25th, 2010

I just came across this very interesting video,  (also presented below) essentially about the therapeutic and what some have come to believe as healing effects of the dolphins. Some of these effects include the tranquil movements of  the dolphins, that invoke feelings of calmness and peace and other more scientific claims like ultra low sonic impulse waves  of the Pink River Dolphin that seem to literally influence a persons feelings and disposition.

For 12-year-old Leonardo de Souza from Brazil, it has been a great blessing in his life to have met and interacted with this Pink River dolphin. Born with no hands, and truncated legs, Leonardo had  many troubles in life, from the physical to the social aspects and everything in between. Suffering from continued low self and depression, his family seeked a way to change this, and give their son the hope of a normal full  life by swimming with dolphins.

You simply  have to watch this video!

Certainly an amazing story of a boy with great courage and perseverance, and with a little help from the love of a dolphin.

So what do you guys think, do dolphins have some therapeutic and possibly healing powers at least from a psychological and self esteem stand point?

Or are the studies in the US correct, and there virtually is no relationship between dolphins and healing whatsoever, truly only time will tell.

Id love to hear your feedback

God Bless,

Tarek

Cancer Patient and Dolphins

Monday, October 11th, 2010

We received this email from a customer that did the swim with the dolphins Miami program recently.  We received this email note from Tim that reads….

“I just wanted to let you know that My Fiancé’ had a wonderful time there on Monday. I attached some pictures to show you just how excited she was. I have more to show if interested.

So you know, Laurie was diagnosed with cancer last month and this was one of the few things she wanted to do before she starts treatments. The others were just not financially feasible but I am sure she was more than happy to get this experience accomplished.

Almost all of the trainers there were very nice and pleasant. She had so much fun she is still talking about it. ”

Here are Laurie’s photos…

We are praying for Laurie healing from the cancer because this disease effects so many families in the USA and around the world.  I  know we get lots of “Make a Wish” families that enjoy the dolphins too. We are glad that this experience adds lots of joy and happiness to the cancer participant.

Do we have other cancer patients that have done the dolphin swim out there and can write us about their experience?

Also, we hope to get updates from Laurie and her complete healing from the cancer!
God Bless,
John

Dolphin Therapy – Good or Bad

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

You may be looking into Dolphin Therapy for your special needs child and there was a good article about this subject whether this is good or bad for your child. This article gives equal weight to both sides of the debate and worth reading. < Read More…>

We have had some experience with Island Dolphin Care from 1996 – 2000.  My opinion is that I have seen positive results from the Dolphin Therapy programs that they offered. I have seen better body movements and improved speech abilities from special needs children that were attending the Island Dolphin Care program.

Finally, these special needs children do not get too many opportunities to have happiness in their lives.  If they don’t get any immediate benefits from the dolphin therapy program but the child and their families get a lot happiness and joy for this week away from their daily lives, why not let them enjoy this opportunity.  Life is short and if these parents can afford this experience with their special needs child and the dolphins, let them do it. As long as the dolphin programs does not claim any miracles to the child, then what harm is it?

What is your opinion about this subject?
God Bless,
John
