More Info on the L.I. Stranded Dolphins
Hi all,
In case you are interested, please check out this updated article, Long Island Rescuers said they did not know the reason behind the mass dolphin stranding, which happens when animals beach themselves or become trapped in shallow waters. Scientists have also been puzzled by the apparently high number of strandings this winter over a large geographic area, from Long Island to Boston, New England Aquarium spokesman Tony LaCasse said yesterday.

Anybody out there that is involved or witnessing this stranding wish to comment?

Can they not be lured out with food?

Hey Henry,
Not that I can see by the articles. They seem to be trying everything to get these dolphins out to sea. Let’s pray they are successful.
I will keep you posted if I read anything else.

Hi all,
Dolphin Rescue Effort Comes to an End
NEW YORK, NY January 22, 2007 —The dolphin rescue in East Hampton, Long Island is over. Eight dolphins were rescued and 12 died in Northwest Harbor Cove.
The dolphins apparently chased a school of bait fish into the cove back on Saturday, January 13th.
A week-long rescue effort of trying to lure and herd the dolphins out of the cove saved 8 animals. Chuck Bowman of the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation says a lack of food in the cove and the frigid temperatures eventually killed those that couldn’t get through an inlet that connect the cove to Gardiner’s Bay and the open ocean.
God bless,
John
