Hi John,
Since you have been to Punta Cana, can you tell me if they offer the Dolphin Wade Program at this location? My spouse & I will be traveling to Punta Cana in September, 2007 & it would be our dream to swim with the dolphins. However, my spouse cannot swim. Can you tell me?

Hi Traci,
You would not be able to participate in the Dolphin WADE program in Punta Cana. But we do offer round trip transportation from Punta Cana to Puerto Plata, which includes bus transfers and flight.

Is the Dolphin World, “Natural Dolphin Swim” in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic the same tour called “Dolphin Island” own and operated by Manati Park in Punta Cana? Our family has been on two trips to Punta Cana in the past. During one of those trips me went to Manati Park and watched the Dolphin Swim program. The conditions that the dolphins were housed in were very poor and it was my understanding that many of the dolphins had a short life span because of it. The swim with the dophins was less then 5 minutes max. Our daughter really wanted to take part in the program, but we felt strongly that we could not suppose the harsh program. The Dolphin Island program is new since we last traveled to Punta Cana, but the travel reviews that I have read appear to be no better. We are planning a trip to Punta Cana in March 2008 and I am still looking for a honorable company for my daughter to take part in a dolphin swim.

Yes, Dolphin Island is owned by the same company. You are correct about Manati Park and the complaints there. The company decided to do something about the complaints and created, Dolphin Island, which is 180 degree turn and much better. The Dolphins have a huge area where to swim with totally natural salt water and eat natural fish from the ocean. All the interactions is on the dolphins terms and very natural. Did you look at the photos that I posted from the story? You will see it is totally different than Manati Park. That is why we have approved working with Dolphin Island not Manati Park.
But if you don’t want to support the company, then you can take our flight tours to Puerto Plata and participate in the Dolphin Swim there. A much different experience.
