Dolphin Movie – The Eye of the Dolphin
Hi All,
I received this email and I thought I would post it about a company called MonterayMedia, that has produced a movie called “The Eye of the Dolphin”.
Here is the press release about the movie and company.
May 1, 2007, THOUSAND OAKS, CA In an unprecedented move for monterey media, the independent studio has moved it’s DVD release to October in order to accommodate the enthusiastically requested summer theatrical release of Eye of the Dolphin.
Carly Schroeder (soon to be seen in Gracie) won the Best Child Actor Award at the Int’l Family Film Festival where the film was also honored with the Best Drama Award. The film garnered much attention very recently at Tribeca and the Houston Film Festival where it won the Silver Award in the new Coming of Age category.
Eye of the Dolphin is the uplifting story of a troubled teenager (Carly Schroeder) coming of age through her relationship with a father she never knew (Adrian Dunbar- Richard III & Crying Game), a local with sage advice (George Harris, co-starring in the soon to be released Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) and a very special friend, a wild dolphin. With a clever script, this soul-searching journey has mass family appeal including humor, angst, love, environmental activism and stunning scenery. Senior V.P. of Marketing, Ann Church of KIDS FIRST! calls this “…A real gem for the entire family.” monterey media is excited to bring Eye of the Dolphin to select venues across the United States for summer 2007. DVD is now slated for an October 2nd release date.

Eye of the Dolphin is a well-made family drama. The characters are dealing with real-world problems and the storyline is realistic. The story-telling is smooth and smart. The character development especially that of Alyssa, is convincing and inspiring. The film deals with some serious issues like teenager’s troubles, dealing with the lost of a parent, communications among family members, etc. It is easy to identify with the characters and draw from their emotions. The courage Alyssa shows in the film is very moving and powerful.
Secondly, the movie has a very good environment-friendly theme. “Respect the nature” is a simple message but it is not easy to actually come up with a applicable solution to existing environmental problems. However, the scientific content of the film, though is not the most important part of the movie, is accurate and solid. The model the film proposes is applicable to solve dolphin captive issues.
Overall, besides the fun aspects like beautiful Bahamas scenes, swimming with wild dolphins that draw young audience’s attention, this is a serious, well-made movie that can generate more serious thinking about life, family and nature.
