Shrewsbury River New Jersey Dolphins Stay There for Now

Hi there,

I am not sure you heard about this pod of bottlenose dolphins that are swimming around the Shrewsbury River in New Jersery. Its a good size pod. The local officials are not worried about these dolphin’s health. This river has plenty of salty water and the dolphins have lots of food. The food is what is keeping the dolphins there.

In fact this holiday weekend the government is trying to protect the dolphins from human harassment, with humans trying to swim with them in the wild or boaters getting too close. So there is extra enforcement and local watches going on. In fact there is a cool website to report any harassment to NOAA which is the government agency overseeing their protection. This site has some great press releases and some really cool photos of the dolphins swimming and jumping in the river. You need to check it out.

What you think should the government try to force the dolphins out of the river or let them stay there?
God Bless,
John

I am unable to believe any dolphins should be in captivity, so I hope that they can encourage to dolphins to return to the open sea. I have been 12 miles off the coast of Bimini and had the opportunity to swim with dolphins in the wild by their choosing. I don’t believe they choose to be held captive and forced to do tricks for humans.
